This is a Sci-Fi novel released in 2012 by Jenn Reese. The book is about Aluna, a 12 year old Kampii that lives underwater with her friend Hoku. On her thirteenth birthday, the 5 elders recite a speech on how the underwater is free from danger. Aluna can’t help but think of everything wrong about what the elders are saying. As a result of her thoughts, she criticized them, and is forced to leave the ritual. Later, she finds out their technology is failing, leading her to devise a plan with Hoku to go to the above world and fix their technology. This book has lots of adventure in it, and you will always be wondering what will happen next. This book does have a tiny romantic scene in it, but the writing will make you want to read it so many times. Finally, a brilliant plot twist occurs in the plot, which, like every good plot twist, you would have never seen coming. This is a great book to keep on your list!
